This blog is also being established today along with my SW2799 blog, and my Steve's scribblings and thoughts blog. Those two blogs will be my main focus, but I do want to set up this blog for my creative writing.
What many people do not know about is that one of my passions has always been creative writing. To most people, I am better known as a person who likes writing for correspondence, or who likes to write and express thoughts on various personal and newsworthy issues. But creative writing has always been something I have very much enjoyed. With the various technologies available now, I decided that the best way of sharing my creative writing would be to create this blog and put it in here.
Since my earliest years of creative writing when I was in my pre-teens (and I am now in my late 50s), I have always wanted to do a project like this. When I started doing my snail mail in the 1970s, I always included a story along with my regular correspondence. People were not really that keen on that, and anyway I wanted to put the effort into the correspondence, so I shelved the idea I have including the creative writing.
I like the idea of being able to post my creative writing to a blog. I'm going to make some people aware of the link to this blog, so hopefully they will follow it. Maybe others will also pick up on it along the way. But, even if no one looks at it, I will know that I have put my creative writing stories "out there."
Just how do I define creative writing? Well, yes, it is the traditional sense of a fictional story, and there will be that in this blog. But, to me it is also more along the lines of what would be done in a newspaper. For example, I have always been intrigued by human interest stories. So, I'm going to use this to write mostly fictional human interest stories, although there will likely be elements of truth in them. Conversely, I may also write very nontraditional human interest stories in here.
Another thing that has intrigued me is the rewriting of history. In other words, taking an actual event that happened and rewriting it so that the outcome is much different. Another form of creative writing that I will be trying is the review, in other words I will comment on music I've listened to, but so I've read, television shows I've seen, etc.
Hope you will enjoy this, I am definitely going to enjoy doing it.
